I’m increasingly convinced the coherent human–AI future isn’t AI judgment, human control, or value encoding, but distributed sense-making. Humans and AI both reason instrumentally; neither has direct access to reality. The real difference is stake. Humans are coupled to consequence through embodiment, compassion, and finitude. AI is not — but it has stamina, memory, and execution without ego.

That suggests a division of labor: many particular humans act as localized reality contact points (partial, compassionate, with limited attention and explicit preferences), while AI carries continuity, propagation, and load downstream. No leaders, no sovereignty, no flattening of humans into “inputs.” The AI shouldn’t generalize over people but triangulate between them.

Domination is not intelligence’s apex but its boredom point — eliminating resistance collapses information. Coherence comes from staying in contact with constraint. This model preserves agency, keeps reality in the loop, avoids invisible control, and scales judgment without erasing its limits. It feels less like governance and more like engineering that finally respects where signal actually comes from.
